FAQ about our Larapinta Trail Tours »
Other trail and tour miscellany:
Q: Are there showers on the Larapinta Trail?
There are no shower facilities on the Trail. We provide a small bowl for washing each day, subject to water availability. There are some water holes where people can swim, but to aviod contaminating the wildlife's water source, soaps must not be used.
Q: Can you pick us up from the airport and arrange accommodation?
Our tours begin with your hotel pick-up and end with us dropping you to your Alice Springs' hotel door.
We are unable to offer airport transfers or the booking of accommodation. We refer you to Territory Discoveries or Central Australian Tourism for more information on accommodation.
Q: What are the age limits for your walking tours? (what's the average age?)
Our minimum age varies from tour to tour. Please talk to us about trips suitable for families and children younger than 14.
The youngest participant we have had was an 11-year-old on a 6 day trek.
The oldest participant we have had was an 80-or-something-year-old on a 9 day trek (she was a woman reluctant to divulge her exact age, although she did give the guide a run for his money).
Q: What else is there to do in Alice Springs?
Alice Springs is a rich cross-cultural outback town and, at times, just sitting in the Todd Mall can bring an enlightening experience.
But we can also recommend:
Nature and Wildlife: the Alice Springs Desert Park, Olive Pink Cafe & Botanic Gardens, The Reptile Centre
Art Galleries: Araluen Cultural Precinct, the various galleries in Alice Springs CBD
Local history: Royal Flying Doctor Service (with cafe), the School of the Air, Alice Springs Telegraph Station, Road Transport Hall of Fame, a tour with Tailormade Tours
Other beautiful places in Central Australia: Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Watarrka Nataional Park (King's Canyon), Palm Valley
*please note: these "other beautiful places" are a reasonable distance from Alice Springs ... if you plan to visit them, be sure to allow yourself an extra day or two ... or five.
