| Trek Larapinta Guide

Shane Fewtrell has 14 years experience guiding bushwalks and other adventure and cultural activities. He recently purchased Trek Larapinta from its previous local owners, Charlie Carter and Deb Clarke, thus continuing Trek Larapinta's tradition of authentic local ownership.
Shane has a strong ethos of local sustainability and connections, which is expressed in the by-line of his personal company, True Way Treks: journeys and expeditions: 'connecting through experience, community and country'. He has knowledge of and an affinity with the Central Australian landscape and is dedicated to building tours that allow people to connect with the land and culture here. |

A bit about Trek Larapinta
Trek Larapinta offers fully supported, expertly guided walking in small groups. We have a variety of tours ranging between 3 and 20 days in length, and we're dedicated to running them so that you are provided with challenges, information and comforts. Most of all, we hope you enjoy being here, in this ancient, fascinating and powerful landscape.
World class tours with local heart: Trek Larapinta is locally owned, locally run and environmentally responsible. Our guides, Shane and Andrew, have spent many years working for highly-regarded tour companies, and they have now chosen to venture off the 'well trodden path' to develop and support tours that have a strong connection to the local land and culture, which is why Trek Larapinta can offer exclusive tours such as the Mt Giles Trek and the Town Bore 'Waritja Trip' Cultural Tour.

What you enjoy
You enjoy the raw, natural beauty of the landscape while all the many behind-the-scenes logistics are taken care of for you.
Nature with challenge and with comfort: The raw and ancient beauty of this landscape come with lengthy walks on sometimes-challenging surfaces, but with Trek Larapinta, you only carry a day pack on the walks. At night, you rest comforably in cosy swags. We cook exquiste meals for your dinners and provide real coffee and bottled wine.
Group size: We're dedicated to small groups (maximum 8), as we believe this size improves the quality of the experience and reduces the impact on the environment.

Tourism that takes responsibility:
Carbon Neutral: Trek Larapinta, as a part of True Way Treks, dedicates a portion of its profits to making itself carbon neutral through Climate Friendly.
Solar Energy: We've also taken in-house initiatives, purchasing solar panels to provide the energy we require on our campsites.
Jointly-managed Indigenous Tours: As a part of True Way Treks, Trek Larapinta is working with Indigenous communities through the Central Land Council in order to support local tourism ventures that generate income for people in this remote and culturally significant area. This includes Community Development Tours, which give you an opportunity to donate to local initiatives and then come and enjoy a supported tour, where you have an opportunity to work alongside the people themselves.
