About this tour »
The 6 day tour: On this tour, the ancient Finke River bed becomes your 'holiday home'.
The waterhole is your swimming-pool. Your dining room is beside a fire, under a canopy of river gums. Your bedroom is in a cosy swag, under a ceiling of stars. And you can relax while Trek Larapinta caters for your needs and guides your daily walks.
This tour cover the Western sections of the Larapinta Trail, from Ormiston Gorge to Mt Sonder. These are spectacular and varied sections, taking you through some of the best examples of West MacDonnell flora and up to the highest point of the Larapinta Trail .
Trek Larapinta also has two other tours that run for six days.
Culture & Country is a fully-supported, interpretive tour that includes the West MacDonnells, Town Bore Aboriginal Outstation and Palm Valley.
The Birdwatching Tours are run in conjunction with specialist guide, Mark Carter: founder of Desert Birdweek and seasoned, world-wide birder.

I had a most challenging, exhilarating and enjoyable trip. My thanks go to all of you for introducing me to bush camping, looking after us so well with your expert guiding on the Larapinta Trail and cooking so well with your exemplary culinary skills back at camp. The Red Centre now takes on a different verve ... Thanks again for the enriching experience and the privilege of sharing it with you.
Regards,
Dr Jeff Friedrich."
Grade of 6 day trek: moderate »
Days vary between 5 and 8 hours of easy-to-moderate walking.
You do need to have a moderate level of health and fitness to do the 6 day trek, but don't be intimidated: ages of people on our tours have ranged between 11 and 80!
If you engage in about 1 hour of aerobic activity (this might include walking, cycling, swimming etc) 3-4 times a week during the 2 months prior to your trip, you should find yourself fit enough to enjoy your days' activities. Longer walks on bush tracks can help you prepare your body for the full days on the trail.
Feel free to talk more to us about being prepared for your holiday.
